AKC Advanced CGC - Community Canine Good Citizen

AKC Community Canine is the third and most advanced level of the Canine Good Citizen Program. In AKC Community Canine, dogs can earn the CGCA (Advanced CGC) title. Some training is proofed in public areas.
Prerequisites and Requirements

To earn the AKC Community Canine (CGCA) title, your dog must have a Canine Good Citizen test on record.

Class is open to all dogs over the age of 9 months.

This class is appropriate for people/dog friendly dogs only.

Proof of current vaccinations (rabies, distemper, kennel cough) is required to participate in class.

Dogs are required to wear a simple flat collar and standard 6 foot leash. Front fastening harnesses, such as the Easy-Walk, are permitted in class but may not be used during the test. Please, no retractable leashes, choke or pinch collars.

AKC Canine Good Citizen Class

The Canine Good Citizen class is a six week certification program that is designed to reward dogs who have good manners at home and in the community. The Canine Good Citizen Program is a two-part program that stresses responsible pet ownership for owners and basic good manners for dogs. All dogs who pass the 10-step CGC test will receive a certificate from the American Kennel Club.

Prerequisites and Requirements

Owners should feel confident their dog has the ability to listen and work in a class environment. While not required, completion of a basic obedience course prior to enrollment in the CGC Course is strongly recommended.

Class is open to all dogs over the age of 9 months.

AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy Class

The S.T.A.R Puppy Class is designed to get you and your pup off on the right paw. This class is open to those age
4-9 months. AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy training is a natural lead in to the AKC® Canine Good Citizen® Program.
Upon completion of the 6 week course, your pup will be tested by a CGC evaluator. Successful completion of the exam will earn your pup a diploma and medal signifying their accomplishment. Your puppy will be listed with the AKC as having completed this certification and you will also receive the AKC Puppy Handbook.

Prerequisite and Requirements

No previous training is required. STAR Puppy, is a first class of 2 required classes, needed to take if you are thinking of doing any pet therapy work.​

Class is open to all dogs between the ages of 4 – 9 months.
